Q: What options are there to serve at Reslife church?

A: One of the great things about worshipping at a smaller church is that there are a ton of ways to get connected and involved! This includes joining, or in some cases even leading:

Bible Studies for Men

Bible Studies for Women

Youth or Young Adult Groups

Small Groups (what we call LiFE Groups)

Worship Team

Setup and Tear-down Team

Welcome Team

Women's Ministry

Men's Ministry

Fellowship Events

Evangelism Groups

Other Discipleship Groups

Q: How do I join one of the above ministries?

A: The pipeline to service begins with asking you what you are passionate about. If you are passionate about helping children follow Jesus, we have an approval process to help you get there. If you simply want to lend a helping hand, we would be happy to put you to work with a setup team, video and sound, or getting involved in local service opportunities.

Our goal at ResLife is to plug you into where God has called you. As a growing church plant, the needs are there. So let's talk and get you connected!

Q: What does a typical service look like at Reslife church?

A: Because we are a member of the Christian faith, our worship and sermons are based on scripture in both the old and new testaments of the Bible. Worship typically lasts about an hour and a half, and includes singing, praying, and reflecting on God’s word together through sermons as a church body. At ResLife's worship services, we try to blend together the best of the past with the best of the present. We desire for our children to know the hymns of the past, but we also worship with modern praise songs. The preaching of the Word is central to our service because we believe that the Spirit uses God's Word to transform our lives! We also try to celebrate Lord's Supper each week, a meal we invite all those who believe in Jesus as their Lord and Savior to participate in together in faith. We are a small church, which has huge benefits. Community is important to us as we desire to provide real and authentic relationships and to equip us to service.

Q: Why does Reslife take communion every Sunday?

A: Because we get to! That may sound trite, but it's true. What a privilege it is to hear the Gospel and then taste the goodness of it each week. Participating in Lord's Supper forces us to keep focused on the Good News, describing why Jesus came, what he did for us, and how he reigns today as the crucified King! Lord's Supper also unites us in faith with Christians since the very first century: "And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers" (Acts 2.24).

We participate in communion by inviting those who trust Jesus as their Lord and Savior to walk up to the front where someone will offer bread and a cup to take back to your seat. You're welcome to hold on to the bread and cup until the pastor signals for us all to participate together.

If you love Jesus, this meal is for you! Please know that if you do not know Jesus as your Lord, you are welcome to witness what's going on and consider ways in which the Holy Spirit may be drawing you to this spiritual meal as well.

Q: How do I join a small group (LiFE group)?

A: We have LiFE groups to help you get plugged into even more meaningful community. Community plays a vital part in maintaining relationships within our church and as an accessible and non-threatening entry point to new relationships. In other words, our LiFE groups are designed to engage our neighbors and networks so that others may also experience Jesus' love.

Q: What denomination is Reslife church?

A: Reslife church is currently a Christian Reformed Church of North America (CRCNA) denomination member. You can learn more about the CRC from their website at www.crcna.org. Today, Reslife church has partnered with local Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) congregations in order to align with more like-minded Christians.  Our theology is nearly synonymous, along with our church governances. We look forward to working closer with the PCA as we move forward.

Q: What is form of church government at Reslife church?

A: Church governance at Reslife church aligns with the Presbyterian form of government, with teaching/ruling elders and deacons.

Q: So where do I begin?!

A: In short, your journey begins with faith that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior and to follow him as the Second Person of the Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that the Gospel is the proclamation that Jesus Christ is the Crucified King who came to rescue us and allows us to do what was originally intended for humans: to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. We believe the Bible is God's Spirit-inspired Word which faithfully teaches us how to live.

As you consider that call, please reach out to us any time and we would be happy to answer any further questions about who we are, how we can serve you, and how to plug you in!  Take that step today.
